We will use this page to compile a list of Web 2.0 tools that we will recommend for use in Klein. Feel free to add sites that you have used or would like to be included in the recommended list. If you add your initials, we will know who to contact if we need clarification.

Facebook (ME)
Wikispaces is what I used for all of the wikis that I have created (librarians, Library Services, TACs, Spanish teachers, this one). AR
I have used Blogger and Edublogs - by far Blogger was much easier for me to use. AR
Twitter is used by many organizations to keep their members informed - wouldn't we want to be informed? AR
Pat B. has created wikis (wikispaces) for her Social Studies teachers and hopes to do book studies through the wikis. AR

(AR to ME) Twitter Suggestions from one school district:

We use it here at the high school http://www.twitter.com/whschaps, (shameless plug) and the feedback has been extremely positive. Some of the things we have to keep in mind are:

  1. Don't use it to announce emergencies such as building lock-down, fire drills, etc.
  2. Make sure you're giving every activity it's "air time". That is don't just use it to announce the football games and not mention the band festivals or volleyball games.
  3. We have a weekly email from the principal and a district listserv for parents. Our Twitter account is not meant to take the place of these resources.
  4. Keep the information related to the school. Don't use it to talk about the lack of rain or such.
  5. Keep it professional and update it often, but don't bombard your subscribers with something every 3 minutes, 24 hours a day.
  6. Don't follow parents, students, etc. Keep the followers to a minimum and only in education. We follow leaders and trend setters in education or educational technology for the most part.
